Osteopathic medicine is a “whole person” approach to medicine—treating the entire person rather than just symptoms. Physicians trained in osteopathic manipulation are Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine. They differ from MDs in the sense that they approach patient care from a more holistic perspective. DOs apply osteopathic philosophy and principles in the diagnosis and treatment of patients and utilize osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) in the treatment of a wide variety of medical conditions.
The art and science of Osteopathic Medicine address the impact of disease within the human neuromusculoskeletal system and its effects on health and well-being.
